Winds are definitely picking up in Manhattan. I didn't know the wind chill was in the teens though, it feels more like low/mid 20's to me.

Updated Snowfall forecast from NWS Boston. They must of heard me. Now calling up to 18 inches in those areas. Wasn't it obvious when the Ocean bands weren't stopping?

The arctic air clearly interacting with the sub jet, watch the yellows. This is rising air as the clouds cool!

Now watch the lifting along the coast as the low forms and the trough go on a negative tilt and snow shield expands. Man I love winter!

What you mean by ocean effect? A marine version of lake effect? Why is only Massachusetts getting the ocean effect? Wind direction?

Ocean effect is like Lake effect. Favorable Winds pushing warm moisture into cold air dropping as snow. Its one of my favorite type of snows to see because its not often we see it. It was happening in CT and Long Island this morning but it got choked off but MA benefited from it. Now that is turning off and the main storm is moving in

67mph winds on Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina. This is important because its telling us the winds are that strong at that level and any mix down to surface and you can easily get 40mph wind gusts.
This is such an interesting storm!
