Yesterday NWS NY mentioned the main weather player would be in the U.S upper air network for 12z.

Quote:
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
411 PM EST TUE DEC 31 2013

LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
SHRTWV OVER THE HIGH TERRAIN OF WRN CANADA WILL BE THE WX DRIVER FOR
THE POTENTIAL SNOWSTORM. THIS FEATURE SHOULD REACH THE CNTRL PLAINS
AFT 12Z WED AND WILL THEN BE IN THE CONUS UPPER AIR NETWORK
.

I believe the 12z trends today of the NAM, GFS, others and now Euro have reminded us the importance of getting the systems over the U.S for better continuity.

Euro now shows blizzard conditions as well. 992mb low outside benchmark area.
