Some more accumulations thus far (6AM). Lower amounts are further away from the lake effect

To to think a couple of days ago, most of our weather outlets were forecasting 3-6 inches of snow. Totally failed at factoring in the lake effect!

Outside of Back Bay station in Boston (where I work). Snow was falling heavily and my company threw in the towel around 9:30am, sending everyone home. Much more snow than had been predicted for the day hours.

Winds are gusting to 20mph here from the NE feeling like a coastal storm but it's no where near yet.

Current radar and wind metars with a couple OBS reports.

BDR winds gusting to 24mph from NE.
BDL wind chill of 0.9°.
Boston has Blowing snow

You know... continuing to see snow falling around Capes and Boston area I have no doubt they get over a foot and some spots over 18". The setup is getting prime for it and I don't think we expected this much to fall already. Look at the loop. Bands are coming right off the ocean still

Some areas got 3-4" already.

8 inches now in spots I believe near the capes. WOW!

No snow here yet, but 6" in forecast for tonight. Looks like I 95 in CT will be mauled by this storm. NJ turnpike already has warning messages up.

George, how are the freeways in Chitown right now.
