We had some cloudy summer months lately too. Last June was the cloudiest June in 122 years here.

I'm going to look in to the AMO index which is currently negative, and it's influence on Northwest Europe's summer temps. I wonder what role if any it has
Between 2007-2012 we had the cloudiest June and the 1st and 2nd cloudiest Augusts on record. August is supposed to match July temps and sunshine, but recently it's been more like September. Since 2006, we've had an average August (2012) and 2 slightly above average Augusts (2009, 2013), all of which were cloudier than normal. The rest have been terrible - the last 10 Augusts have averaged 60-70 hours less sun than normal.

I spent the latter half of June 2015 in Chicago, and I really liked it (for June standards). That explains why

Anyways, max here was 9C this afternoon and also yesterday, pretty amazing considering the avg high is 17C.

It sucked. June gloom, and below average temps. July was sunny, but cooler than average. Only August was above average last summer, and just marginally so.

Canadian seasonal model doesn't agree with Weather Company's summer forecast for Europe. Although this was initiated a month ago, and may have changed.... Anyway, June and August dominated by Atlantic westerlies, but not below average. July may see above average temps.

Let's how much of the positive anomalies will be eaten away with this cold push across Europe for the month of April

Your summers are actually typical of a positive amo Nothing abnormal.

Despite Georges forecasts of impending doom there is still nothing to write home about here!! Its colder than average for the time of year yes but its not exactly remarkable, no snow, no frost, no doomsday scenario happening despite the Daily Mails headline of 'blanket of snow to cover Britain!' lol, what is it with these people! The Daily Mail have repeatedly told me for 2 and a half years now that Britain was about to become Siberia and in those 2 and a half years we haven't even had a flake of snow (where I am anyway), its getting beyond a joke, how many times does that newspaper have to get 'egg on its face' before it finally stops? Its becoming an absolute laughing stock in the UK.

It was 5c here yesterday afternoon, and parts of Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have had snow. In fact right now it's sleeting here! It's very cold, and feels very cold!
We've had pretty much no snow for 3 years, yet we get some at the end of April! Germany has settled snow on the ground right now too, as do other European countries.

George was absolutely spot on with his charts.

Right now it's 4c here with sleet/snow! High for today is just 7c. Cold.

First of all they are not my forecasts. They are tweets from professional meteorologists. Second, I never mention the UK specifically. The UK is just a small part of Europe, the cold has encompassed a large land mass. Some got a glancing blow. Some a direct hit. In fact in my previous posts it shows that Germany was to bear the brunt of the cold and yest snow as some forumers have already posted.

The AMO has been positive since the late 1990s, and the period between say 1997-2006 had fairly normal sunshine amounts in summer. It's only the last decade that has been well below average.
