The temps in Northern Russia (-46 C in the middle of the afternoon!!) and Southern Italy with that -9 C in the middle of the afternoon are impressive. Is that -9 C an elevated location?


I'm assuming the -16 C is elevated.

Yes the -9C is at Trevico, 1085m asl, the -16C is Monte Terminillo, 1874m asl...

Very cold across Italy & Croatia... Dubrovnik is currently -3C & -4C at the airport...

Today we went to the harz mountains with some friends.
We hiked around 800m asl, and the weather was crisp and beautiful. It was -12c and it didnt feel like it, because there was no wind. Perfect conditions for hiking.





Here you can see the top of the Brocken. With 1141m elevation it is the highest mountain in northern germany. It averages 120 snowdays per year.

It's rounded to -50C. Might go lower off course. First -50C in Europe this winter?
