Well, i can't say it's been the case for most of France and the UK, and generally anything west and north of the Alps.

If I think about Lyon, which is borderline between both influences:

2000: cool July, pretty warm August
2001: a bit warmer than average
2002: a bit cooler than average
2003: hot like everywhere else, especially August
2004: warmer and wetter than average
2005: cooler and drier than average
2006. July about 4c warmer than average, August about 2c cooler than average. Bipolar summer.
2007: cooler and wetter than average overall
2008: a bit cooler than average
2009: warmer than average
2010: warmer July, average August
2011: cool july, average August
2012: normal july, August a bit above average
2013: warmer July, average August
2014: cooler than average in both months.

so, basically, there hasn't been an overall warm summer there since 2009, otherwise some months have been very good (July 2013, August 2012, July 2010), and some months have been very cool (July 2011, all of summer 2014).

Before that, only July 2006 has been notable.

You guys are on a roll.

Maybe this increase in summer average is effecting only Southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Greece, Mediterranean France). I guess all the African immigrants are bringing the heat along with them

Here's what has happened in London's July/August since 2000

2000: very cool July, average August
2001: slightly above avg July, average August
2002: cool July, average August
2003: slightly above avg July, hot August
2004: slightly below July, slightly above August
2005: average July and August
2006. Hottest July on record, cool August
2007: very cool July and August
2008: cool July, very cool August
2009: average July and August
2010: warm July, very cool August
2011: very cool July and August
2012: very cool July, average August
2013: hot July, slightly above average August
2014: warm July, very cool August

The warming clearly hasn't got to us.

Since 2000, your summers are warmer than the 30 year averages (especially June)

And this July will most likely end up significantly above average too

That's due to July 2006 and July 2013. Take those away and July would be below average at 22.9c along with August. The other post didn't mention June, so I left it out. Most July and Augusts since 2000 have been below average.

This July will probably end up slightly above average, the rest of the forecast just shows normal temps with no heat.

Well you can't just take 2006 and 2013 out. They happened, and helped push your July average above the 30 year norm.

Can't say the same here. Nine of the last sixteen July have been below normal. If I were to take away the record 2012, then July would be even more below normal. Luckily it happened

And of course this July will end 2C below average if not worse. I can't see any heat for this August either which would probably end up dropping the very minimum surplus in the 2000-2015 period

I bet 1-1.5C above average. That would be pretty significant

Now let´s look how will be the temperature issues in NE Europe. Deviations from 1961-90 averages on this Russian map.

So, that´s below 61-90 avarages.
Yes, the summer has been weak here, just as the local amateur "weather-wises" in spring forecasted. Nice

We have had more below average summer months than above since 2000, the reason we have slightly increased (Only 0.6C in June, 0.1C in July) and actually been cooler in August is because it is much harder for us to get strong negative anomalies. It is far easier for us to get a July that is 3C above average, whereas one that is 3C below average would be record breaking. Since 2000, many months have been 1C-2C below average.. interspersed between a few months that have been 3C above average, and then 2003 and 2006 that were record breaking summer months.

Our minimum temperatures are on the rise though, as expected..

That is insignificant. Barely any change at all. A difference of 0.1c in July? Big deal.

And July might be warmer than average but remove the incredibly hot first day and suddenly it's significantly cooler and not so warm.

^^

I said summers, in London, not just July, and especially June has seen warming. Yes, July is insignificantly warmer, and August is insignificantly cooler with difference of 0.2C. So remove both July and August since they both are very near normal and you have June which is 0.6C above normal (wish I could say the same here).

London's first 8 days this month has an average high of 27.1C. Removing the 1st, and July 2nd-8th has an average max of 24.8C. Still above normal, and even though the average will be dropping, I bet the month will end up 1C above normal.

Edit:

Maybe I'm wrong about London ending up above normal. Here is what the CFSv2 forecast for the rest of July globally. Looks like a lot of cooling over landmasses (and wants to kill off summer in much of Europe and the US, even though the Pacific is on fire
