Really? I was just going by recent times. The last few years have been..

2014: 19th May
2013: 30th June
2012: 23rd May
2011: 20th April
2010: 23rd May
2009: 25th June
2008: 11th May

I guess the rubbish period in the 80s really brings that average lower.

Yes it probably does. 1980's summer reeked. Imagine them in Buxton.

Some real stinkers here.

1988.. I think I may have committed suicide had I been alive. Pure dogs balls. I don't even think that a July that bad is possible any more.. not one July day made it within 0.5C of the current average July max.

1987.. my God even worse. I definitely would have gone crazy.

6 well below average summer months in a row. 1989 was decent though, and June 1986 was not too bad. Other than that the 80s were pure crap

July 1983 was very good, and the summer of 1984 was about average. The rest was pathetic, 85-88 was like 07-12, but without the average temps of 09 in the middle.

Climate Londres / Heathrow Airport (July 1983) - Climate data (37720)

Climate Londres / Heathrow Airport (June 1984) - Climate data (37720)
Climate Londres / Heathrow Airport (July 1984) - Climate data (37720)
Climate Londres / Heathrow Airport (August 1984) - Climate data (37720)

We should see our first 27c day next week.

July 83' looked very nice indeed.

Where are you getting your forecast from? I haven't seen anything warmer than 25C for next week. GFS? I think dunno showed a link with widespread high 20's for the 10th though.

I posted that before I checked the forecast, which has now been downgraded to just 22-24c for next week.

the forecast for London is between 16 and 22C for next week (weather.com) with lows between 7 and 12. It's still impressive when you compare it to the forecast for Manchester (between 13 and 18 for daytime highs).

That's funny, the same forecast I just looked at has minima of 10C-12C, with high temps of 16C-23C ( one day of 16C and one day of 18C)

So how did you not see the minimums for Thursday and Friday (8 and 7)?

The main problem there is that ou trust weather.com for a forecast outside the US. It's always warmer and drier than what they say.
