Let's face it, London summer isn't that bad weatherwise but certainly isn't great. Mostly cool temperatures, with some occasional warmth, and changeable weather with significant rainfall. Nights are very cool even in July and August.
It is basically the "nightmare" summer of Italian heat and sunshine lovers, and the ideal summer for those who hate heat and summer.

More like 10%-15% higher which would be about 165-245 additional hours. So the total would be between 1800-1900 hours. I highly doubt 2000

Here is the location of the Greenwich weather station. Not the best place for sunshine recording, is it.

Midway's sunshine instrument is not actually on the airport grounds (it used to be until 1996) by 3 blocks away at a COOP observer's back yard. As you can see in this news report his back yard full of government sanctioned weather data collecting equipment also has many obstructions including trees, and neighboring houses that may impact accurate sunshine data

yes, it was in 2008. Seattle has been having great weather this season with lots of sunshine. In a 2 week period, there are 10 sunny/mixed clouds, 2 cloudy and 2 rainy days which is unbelievable.

Canada uses the European system and Vancouver gets around 2000, still more than 1600.

The weather is no more changeable than anywhere else in most of Europe. The average lows at Heathrow are 14c in July and August, but closer to the centre it's more like 16c, not exactly 'very cool'. It's usually around 20c at midnight.

Significant rainfall is nonsense as well.

Average lows at Heathrow are 13.9°C in July, 13.7°C in August and 11.7°C in June. Very cool temperatures.
And about the rainfall, there are on average more than 23 days of rainfall >1 mm, which are a lot. And this is combined with low sunshine amounts. Where is the nonsense?

Exactly, you can get 1mm of rain in a 10 min shower in summer, and the vast majority of 'rainy days' in summer are quick showers.

A notable amount of summer days are characterized by rainfall.

You mean in the same way that a notable number of summer days (as in 95% of them) are characterised by sun?

So London has an extra 7 days with rainfall compared to Rimini, and that counts as significant summer rain?
