These cherrypicked stations are not representative of the metro area. Choose an official station and stick with it. Don't pick some place 50km away and call it Los Angeles.
London is not cooler than Seattle. They have the same annual mean temperature.
yes, but the patterns are different. Seattle can get hotter and colder, it can get long sunnier and long cloudier periods. It's more extreme and this is normal. London is on an island.
No, I will not, as that is not scientifically correct. You know that.
You can use one station to compile averages if that station is the most representative, but where's the harm in quoting other stations from time to time? Heathrow is London's primary weather station, but if another station reaches 32C as the hottest in the area, then you can mention it as well. People will experience it.

Ok, I will use the Kiikala station for our record highs this year. It's not in our "metro area", but I should be given the same geographical liberties as the "metro area" of London or LA.

How so? If the Turku "metro area" is 10 km and has 3 weather stations, while metropolitan London has like 10, why should I be at an disadvantage in terms of records?

So you're saying Turku should be able to use some hick rural weather station 20km away, even if it's nowhere near the city, while London shouldn't use a station the same distance, even if it's actually IN the city??
You don't see the flaw in your argument there??
Some rural station far away from Turku is not important to anyone. Even if it's the same distance from Turku centre as from central London, it's not the same, and you know it. Bigger cities have more stations, usually, and more variation in temperature and local weather conditions. This is fact.
Clearly, use one station for averages, but if B87 one day in July reports '31C, sunny at 3pm', he can also mention that the hottest temperature in London was 32C at whatever station. Why not? Or if one station is closer to him than the other, then he can use whichever station he feels is better suited to his local area, rather than London as a whole. Like if someone is 1 mile from Gravesend, but is 20 miles from Heathrow, which station is better for them to use?
Somewhere around the middle of May is my guess. We probably won't get one at all, because we do not get one every year and we were unusually blessed in June and July last summer.
