Yes I know it is a long while off but model guidence as well as long-term outlooks suggest a cilder than normal and possibly very white April for the eastern U.S. As well as much below normal temps being continuously predicted by NOAA a stunning storm system is being shown by the GFS weather model and is now moving close enough to be considered withing the realm of possibility. Here is the GFS easter blizzard as well as NOAA's outlook for the first week of April.
Possibility is there... Last time NYC saw more than an inch of snow in April was in 2003 on the 7th. Before that was in 2000. It does snow in April.
Usually March is the ups and downs month with warm and cold but obviously it wasn't March this year... It should be April. So I do see warming trends showing up but it doesn't mean we cant get a snowstorm and/or cold as well.
Here's the GFS from yesterday afternoon for April 4th. This would be a foot of snow for parts of NY & VT State. Low Pressure way too close to coast for us to get snow here with this setup!
AND... Canadian has the storm too. Just the fact that they are all showing the 850mb freezing line that far south is interesting. Jet stream isn't usually that far south in April.
Incredible! I have been hyped all winter for you guys up north even though florida has been above average!
Lol, thanks. It has been fun and interesting. I was in stat heaven. And to think that we really only had 1.5 months of winter. Didn't start till after mid Jan. Then we get a cold and snowy Spring month. Still only 2 months of cold and snow.
But impressive indeed with the length of snowpack and deepness of the cold air.

Don't jinx us by saying what it "will" be so far out. Lol at this point its safe to think Climo. Only northern New England with the snow.
