cloudy morning

After about 9:30 the clouds broke, and it was off and on sunshine. By noon there was a big thundercloud nearby

raining to the north

Spoiler

sky got darker. Heard thunder, but rain just missed us.

poured after another storm a few hours later. Another light rain storm around 7:30, just light rain for half an hour

nice clouds but too dark for my phone camera to capture without lots of grain

Grass is getting brown here aswell, and Munich has a summer precipitation peak. This summer has been really dry.

All I saw in the photo was a massive motorway system, a massive car park & the edge of a building, it could have been any building... I know what the Pentagon is & looks like, but pardon me if I don't recognise from its car park & one wall...

That looks even drier than here, are there also trees with yellow leaves in Vancouver by now?

This is exactly where the Limes Germanicus ran in ancient times

Spoiler
I tried to locate the Limes-remains in our forest here based on maps and I'm pretty sure this unreconisable hill is it:

More Roman stuff from here, ruins of a Roman bath:

Riparian Forest:

Wondered about this odd looking plant, apparently it is Datura stramonium:

Wow, nice cloud.
After 100 °F tomorrow and Friday, I should get an eagerly awaited thunderstorm on Saturday.

Good photos. It would be good to see some Roman ruins. The only ones I've seen, were prop ones at an Italian restaurant -not quite the same.

That Datura is called Jimson here -one of the trippy ones.

Really odd plant. The fruit looks a bit like that of a chestnut.

In the United States, the plant is called jimson weed, or more rarely Jamestown weed; it got this name from the town of Jamestown, Virginia, where British soldiers consumed it while attempting to suppress Bacon's Rebellion. They spent 11 days in altered mental states.
