Ahh, you got some eye. Yeah, that's a semi main road which has a sidewalk which I'm on for just 2 minutes as I do a loop.. Most of the area has no street lights like in 3rd pic. So its pitch black at night. Just the moon and some people keeping their outdoor lights on. :-)

You mean sidewalk pavement? Cool. Always fun to hear what areas look like where.

Sidewalk = pavement. I bet you could find a similar scene within 2 mins by searching on street view in rural Surrey, Sussex or Hampshire.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.18...7i13312!8i6656 no pavement

Thought it was rather wooded for England. That's not considered rural, btw. It's a suburban street.

Looks rural for our standards. A suburban street here looks like these...

Interesting you call a type of surface a sidewalk. A sidewalk is made of pavement sometimes gravel. But a street is also made of pavement. but yeah.. we got plenty of those same looking areas around here.

BTW... Connecticut has the worse rural roads in the U.S.

"The report also noted that rural roads were more likely to have dangers such as narrow lanes, limited shoulders, sharp curves, pavement drop-offs and steep slopes, as well as inconsistencies in design"

“Roads in Connecticut are old roads, Our roads are maybe 300 years old — that means they were originally horse-and-buggy and cart paths,†which were not designed for stop-and-go intersections, but rather with big curves. "

They probably forgot to add lack of street lights for accidents that may come at night.

I don't have gravel/rural road pics on hand from my travels but I do have this..

Google didn't go onto that road... I did.. It's gravel past that turn.. Pretty awesome. Houses are set inside there. This area has very little traffic and very foresty with open fields and farms at times in the area..

There's more rural areas in NW part of state vs SW but they are still around near me. Unfortunately disappearing more and more.

However, Rural and Suburb may differ between people. I have all suburb around me in in my county which some might consider it rural.
