All taken from Facebook friends posts. I've never seen flooding as bad as this in York before, it's just everywhere. Normally, the Ouse will flood. But this time around, the Ouse peaked just below it's record level, the River Foss broke it's record by over a metre, and the Tang Hall beck broke it's record by over 2 metres!
Aerial of the southern side of the city centre. Top left flood is the river Ouse, and the flooding on the bottom right is the River Foss. Alot of the City has been completely cut off as these river's line most routes in and out of York.
Taken from my cousins flat in Walmgate the river that's flooded here is the Foss. My cousin was fine, apart from a ruined car. Ground floor occupants not so lucky.
Leading down to the River Ouse. The pub at the bottom on is the Lowther, and before it Plonkers bar.
Friends mum lives on this street, but further down. She had 6 feet of water in her house...
Notice that just next to the street sign in the background, you can just see the tops of the cars. The cars on the opposite side of the road were completely submerged.

York is always flooding, but this is particularly bad - but with the number of new developments on floodplains, one wonders whether we ourselves contributed to this disaster. Certainly, no more houses should be built on floodplains. York is flat as a pancake so the water goes absolutely everywhere.
The bunch of tossers in government also have a lot to answer for when they halted flood defence schemes in Leeds and York nearly 5 years ago.
