Actually Bastardi's updated winter forecast has been issued and is actually better than the one he had before. I do think major cold would occur most likely between December 3rd to about the 20th or so this year. I do think January and February would be average to above average this year with major cold returning in March to finish off the winter.

He's predicting La Nina to fizzle soon, but I haven't heard him mention El Nino condition for this winter or early spring

True.
I'd rather have that name than one of those unpronounceable ones, though. I once knew one with the last name Juszczyk. Want to guess which letters are actually pronounced as they should be?

Was it pronounced like "you-see-zick"?

Should be pronounced like "You-Sch-Ick", blame Poland for using a Latin script instead of a cyrillic one. I always wanted to have one of those hard to pronounce Russian last names but mines is pretty basic

Sometimes when I was playing NBA 2K, I would start players with long or hard to pronounce names just because it was funny to hear the announcer say it.

Answer to earlier question: They pronounced it "yoush-chek". The area in which I lived in Ohio was full of people with last names from various Eastern European countries. It was actually unusual to come across someone with a last name that was not recognizably either Slavic or Hungarian. I feel sorry for all the poor substitute teachers having to pronounce things like "Radszizewski" , "Mészáros", "Wieczorek", "Dyczko", "Jacimovic", etc.

(my last name is quite generic and not really recognizable as "from" anywhere, in case you're wondering)

Joe B is very entertaining, but also has been hyping every cold breeze and snowflake since his days at Accuweather. If his nonsense forecasts were true, DC would average 200" per year.
