Wow, that's lower than I expected (I was expecting Indy to have an annual extreme low of about 0 F or -2 F or so) but the upper South can see some REAL cold from time to time. TN and KY can drop below 0 F sometimes.
The early 1980s were cold. The 1981-2010 average yearly min is -8, but for 1986-2015 it is -5.

Interesting that while here in South America the coldests months of winter are June and July,in North America its seems that January and February are the coldests, many cities here in SA had it all time record low registered in June.
Florida: where you have 80f summer nights for like 9 months a year and somehow still go below freezing regularly in the winter. What a comfortable climate
This is annoying me, hour 384 on gfs has me at 14 degrees for a low. I'm tired of record cold, dear God I need a warm winter all 3 months. Teens into south florida, hahaha. It's scary though that it's being shown consistently now.

That one with teens is Dewpoint, not Temperature.
