I hate when people spew misinformation, even if I share the same/similar stance on the topic.
Total respect for you for this. That is what I'm saying. I may differ on the stance or even agree on it but it baffles me when they use it and abuse it. And you have people (like those that retweeted) who are clueless and spread that info and believe it.. Such a peeve of mine.

National Weather Service New York NY
401 PM EST Fri Dec 23 2016

More of the same to start the final week of the year, with a fast
Pacific jet racing across the northern tier of the country. This
will result in a series of frontal systems impacting the area next
week, one Monday night into Tuesday, and then another Thursday.
Generally of late, these systems have been impacting the area
every 2-3 days.

Any amplification of the flow has been short-lived
with the northern branch of the polar jet displaced well to the
north across Canada. Thus, no significant cold shots are forecast
through at least mid week with a cool down to near seasonable
levels for mid week following the first cold frontal passage.

There are some differences with the second Pacific frontal
system, which is clearly more amplified with the 12Z ECMWF,
supporting a potential coastal low development along the Mid
Atlantic and Northeast coasts. The nature of the fast flow with no
blocking leaves in doubt such a system. At the same time, there
is evidence of a high amplitude ridge building in along the west
coast of North America late in the week. None of the shorter term
climate signals from the GFS support a colder, stormier pattern
in the northeast.

Temperatures during the period are generally forecast to be above
seasonable levels with the exception of Monday mornings lows and
for Wednesdays highs behind the cold front.

There are some wild
cards in play for late in the week that will have to be watched.

Euro this afternoon had a nice snowstorm from Philly(1-3") to Maine (12-16") next week. So they are saying it has to be watched

Going to be an awesome but crazy weekend for them. I hope they are ready.

These are the winds on Christmas day. While family and friends are inside all cozy in front of a fire, opening gifts, sharing laughs or eating their meal; winds will be whipping outside and blizzard conditions with blowing snow.

Blizzard Warnings out

Snow totals. WOW

.TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FAIR WEATHER THE REST OF TODAY AND ON SATURDAY
TO PREPARE YOURSELF...YOUR FAMILY...AND YOUR PROPERTY...FOR WHAT
WILL TURN OUT TO BE VERY HARSH WINTER WEATHER CHRISTMAS DAY AND

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS ARE CONFIDENT THAT A
POWERFUL WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT WESTERN AND CENTRAL NORTH
DAKOTA...AND ADJACENT AREAS OF THE NORTHERN PLAINS AND CANADIAN
PRAIRIE PROVINCES...WITH HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS. IT WILL BE A
FULL BLOWN BLIZZARD. THERE WILL BE WIDESPREAD SNOW AMOUNTS OF 6
TO 12 INCHES...WITH SOME 15 INCH AMOUNTS. THAT...ALONG WITH WIND
GUSTS AS HIGH AS 55 MPH WILL RESULT IN VERY DANGEROUS...IF NOT
IMPOSSIBLE...TRAVEL. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE WEATHER MAY DICTATE
THAT YOU CHANGE HOLIDAY PLANS FOR SUNDAY AND MONDAY.

THE SOUTHERN JAMES RIVER VALLEY, LAMOURE, EDGELEY, OAKES,
ELLENDALE, AND ASHLEY, WILL LIKELY HAVE A PERIOD OF SLEET AND
FREEZING RAIN ON SUNDAY. ON ONE HAND THIS WOULD KEEP SNOW AMOUNTS
THERE DOWN. ON THE OTHER HAND, EVEN A LITTLE ICE GOES A LONG WAY
TO CAUSING PROBLEMS.

Holy ****, Winnipeg going 25f below average would mean something like -15/-30f there. May as well book a ticket now, lol

30f negative anomalies in Billings would be impresive too.

Knowing gfs, it might moderate before then.

Jealous. ND/MN easily has the best climate of the lower 48 imo.
