Check out my Maple tree comparisons. I forgot to get 2013 & 14.
Look at today vs 2012 same time. We already had leaves. 2012 was about 3 weeks early
2015 was a very late year after the Historic cold February and March we had.
2017 is a few days behind last year.
About normal overall out there maybe few days late this year. Things should really start to pop now with the 80s today and 60s going forward. Always happens so fast within 2-3 weeks we are leafing

Neat comparison; I wonder how closely it followed the pattern up by me. I'd guess this year is close to usual for the season. Cool weather of next week could hold leaf out back, but there aren't any frosts coming up at least
Went to the park yesterday. Not the most exciting landscape yet, but the spring bloom is underway.
Spoiler
This is an old mill known as the Easton Tower (build in 1900). It was actually a replacement for an older mill that had been previously located at this site.

What part of New Jersey are you from? Seems like trees here are a lot further along.
I live in Northwestern NJ, but these pictures were taken in Northeastern NJ...about 15 miles west of NYC. I would guess on average we're about a week or two behind South Jersey and Southeastern PA.
Wow, those pics from NJ look like early/mid March here.. we are basically fully leaved out minus a few types of tree
