Because in September we don't really care about cold weather, if it was a hot summer it's more relief than anything. Whereas in March cold waves are annoying af. Also the fall in the Northeast US is much warmer and stable on average than spring

Look at average highs... they drop faster how else do they get 10 degrees colder than us in winter. So far average high has dropped 9 degrees since peak. How about Philly? They are only a few degrees cooler in summer so where does the difference really begin to show?

5:30pm Map. Nice 70s here but A/C is on due to humidity. Horrible lately. (dews in mid-upper 60s). Eastern MA didn't pass 60s today? #Jose.

Wow at the 80s south of NYC. What a difference a cloud edge can make.

Looks like more widespread rain over the Atlantic then earlier today. Interesting

In motion last 4 hours with wind gusts as the sun goes down. Winds lightened up here now. Doesn't feel like there's a 982mb storm off the coast. But he's there.

It's 76°F out but the wind and no sun I though it was cooler despite the humidity. GFS has an interesting forecast for Maria. Just skims New England like Jose but landfalls on New England. Yes, the temperatures and wind are 850 mb. Warm core as it approaches New England

becomes a cold core extratropical storm

Haha at mentioning the 850 there. I was looking atbthe surface pressure anyway on those maps to see how close and strong it was showing. I dont think it comes close to us but I do jinx things.

That sharp cold front with the chilly air next weekend will play a role. Should kick Maria out but what if it slows down ?. High Pressure in the Atlantic playing a role too

Managed to make it up to 80 today, clouds clearing out now, winds are calming a bit. Tomorrow should be better.

Blocking in the Atlantic. Persistent. Amazing its happening with an active hurricane season. Its giving them a path thats risky to landfalls. The central Atlantic ridge happens other yrs but sometimes Hurricanes cant get going.

Ridge placed further east this summer, thats why were werent getting too hot and the Jet was able to dip down in Northeast.

It blocked Irma from going OTS.
Its making Jose stop and turn around.
Its making Maria come up the gulf stream.

Another summer-like day today. Got up to 92F with DP in the 70's all day. Unlike the past few days, there were some isolated t-storms.

It has reached 90F every day since last Thursday. The low hasn't been below 70F since last Saturday.
