Miami's hourly forecast has a 160 mph peak wind gust
Holy ****, I imagine that's no different from us. The track has the eye literally going over where I live. Kind of scary.

I appreciate everyone's sudden interest in the topic, but take it easy. This era of sensationalism, especially in the media, is partly to blame.
I've had to school a couple of nimwits on that I wish the people would leave the meteorology/climatology talk to the big boys. I have not seen a single meteorologist attribute this to climate change, only people who have no clue of they speak of.
There's also a bunch of morons down here who think because there's three active hurricanes right now, means they're all coming towards us when A.) Jose poses no threat to us and B.) Katia is right next to ****ing Mexico and about to start heading west. People are a bunch of panicky morons.

Here's a summary of global warming effects on hurricanes by climatologists:
clear connection is warmer sea temperatures -> stronger maximum possible hurricanes & faster intensification. Saw somewhere else saying max wind speed increases by about 7 m/s per °C of warmer ocean. Of course, most hurricanes don't reach max intensity and there are other limiting factors.

Sounds like you're getting an exciting weekend, at least you don't have to worry about storm surge... seems rather Hurricane Andrew like but it'll run parallel to the coast and is larger

Yes it should be exciting, I just hope my power isn't out too long or things aren't too catastrophic. Power goes out here because of light rain outside, I can only imagine a major hurricane.
