I personally probably wouldn't describe a summer as warm until at least one month averages 16C, which corresponds to the half-way point between hot summer climates (>22c) and climates that lack a summer altogether (<10C).
Since RejkjavÃk merely averages 11.2C in its hottest month (July), it is inappropriate IMO to describe its summer as warm. Mild would function as a more accurate designation for RajkjavÃk's summer.
I was there in Summer, and I agree - it was mild. I did wear mostly long sleeves but no sweater untill late afternoon. Gloomy too. Had just a couple of sunny days and warm enough for a short sleeve. Probably around 60F.
People living there are so happy to see a sunny, warm day that they often wear light summer clothes even if feels still chilly
BTW: some of their beaches have black sand...
And on warm Summer days you can go to the beach and swim in the geothermal water in Reykjavik.

Well it's unusual for it to be gloomy in summer. Do you factor in the sunshine in early morning and late evening?
I basically got yelled at for suggesting Reykjavik has a cool summer, so I just want to know if I am really wrong.
Average high for each month below 60F? I don't see how that could be considered anything other than a cool summer.
