Looks like we will continue to be in the mid and upper 80's till next Thursday, then it's just a slight drop in daily temps from there. When is a good cool down coming!?
Man, I hate this would-be fall malarkey. Today I saw that they've replaced the watermelon display with a pumpkin display in the stores. Huh? It's mid 80s outside and Halloween is almost two months away. Let's be real here, for much of the country the real turn toward fall is still a good 3 weeks or a month away..for the deepest South even more.
Oh you poor thing, my temps this week that I'm whining about are 84-86 highs. Looks like we'll have a slight drop next Friday down to very low 80's, then a few days later upper 70's. Forecast is showing this very gradual which would be surprising. This time of year, it's usually HOT then big cool down, then back up for a while, etc.
The calendar says it's fall, but the weather says it's Summer with a capital S. Average high for the first six days of September has been 92.5 F / 33.6 C. The attached photo has the forecast for September 8-14 as of late evening September 7. It hit 86 F / 30 C today, but forecast highs are 91, 96, 99, 97, 98, 99, 93. The extended forecast for September 15-21 is 91, 92, 90, 89, 89, 88, 85.
If that average holds, we'll be averaging a high of 93.9 F / 34.4 C for September 1-14 and 92.3 F / 33.5 C for September 1-21!
Record highest average for September's high was 91.5 F / 33.1 C in 1925.
July's average high was 91.4 F / 33.0 C and August's was 91.1 F / 32.8 C, so there's an outside (though unlikely) chance that we'll have September as the hottest month of 2019 and have the hottest September ever. I think September's overall average high will be at least 87.5 F / 30.8 C.
Sudden thunderstorm in Seattle tonight, accompanied by a heavy downpour. It came out of nowhere -- quite the light show too; I've had three power spikes thus far. The week before was calm and warm, with a forecast for some rain on Sunday. Guess the weather forecasters missed this one.
I hope it ends soon. They have a weather delay for the local UW football game. College kids will be playing after midnight at this rate.
