Colder today. This morning was mid 30's, now it's low 50's, fireplace is going. Settling in for watching some football.

Sunny and 18F in KC for the AFC playoff game. Sunny glare but no warmth, I'll pass.
Cloudy and 60F in Santa Clara for the NFC playoff game. Seems like a nice day for football there.

Which one do you prefer?

Quick look at current temps this afternoon. Reached low 40s here. Melted half the snowpack. Wish I was in Iowa....actually Indiana would be just fine. Teens during the day

For the end of January they are showing a return to milder conditions

Yeah, the blizzard blew away all cold air around here ! I noticed instantly this morning it was unseasonably warm, and when I checked it was around -15 C high ?!?

Bloody Heat Wave in a January

How long can we expect this to last ?

How is -15C unseasonably warm when your average high is like -10C?

^Yup exactly, I'm pretty sure the coldest January maxima among inhabited places in the contiguous US are either Pembina, ND or the Northwest Angle (or somewhere nearby those). Those are both around -11C.

Even in the previous normals period (1971-2000), this general area was above -13C for January max. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseau,_Minnesota#Climate
