There are no four distinct seasons in the Ohio Valley anymore, just annoying awful patterns that produce insane amounts of precipitation. Very warm for the rest of the week and these people around here act like it is Spring even though low temperatures of 18-32F can still occur here at any time over the next two and half months. I can't stand it.

Currently here at Downeast, Maine...21F Degrees, Dew Point 15F Degrees, Winds NW 12mph, Gusts 27mph, Pressure 29.71 and rising...
Snowing Heavily...Expected accumulation from 3-6"!

Another beautiful blue-skied day...feeling like we're living in Bend, Oregon, once again!
Puffy and fluffy snow from yesterday was easy to move from our path to the shed door and it was easy to dig out our vehicles (thankful for our plow-truck driver) and moved them to where it was plowed...
Well, we moved one of them and just a few minutes ago, I scrambled out to move the other...3" had accumulated...
The sound of wind whirling about this old house is not only heard but felt!
When we have blizzards, this old house stands and drifts embrace it and spread across the Birch Meadows....
It's an odd house!
We swear there is not a square corner in the whole place...
Yet, she stands like an icon on crossroads - one leads east!
and another to a Great Pond...
She has a 1860 sign on her, but we've often believed she was much
older than that...perhaps more like 1830....
We don't know much of her history!
But, she appears to be strategically located...
lending her to a view of those who may approach!
The only lovely thing she bears is an ornate staircase...
Not something that local craftsman would have done!
But, something that was brought in....
Bannisters and railing!
It appears as if a soldier had built this house...
on a land grant!
So we embrace her and her history...
yet undiscovered!

We will range from the low 60's to the upper 80's this week. A real mixed bag as the weather goes. No rain. I return to my old stomping grounds in central FL for a couple of days and will dine in Tampa a week from today. No matter the weather a real Cuban sandwich will be good. Here on the north side of the Gulf the cold fronts don't always stall. This last one that brought rain to so many didn't quite deliver for us. Some cooler temps but not enough rain to measure. Chances for a late frost seem to have vanished. We can only hope.

I remember winters that we never had a frost and then those when we had hard freezes all the way back in the 50's. I've seen icicles the size of my leg hanging from grapefruit trees and grass that needed mowing all winter long on the FL ridge. FL winter is a crap shoot. Not many years back in November we had a very costly freeze down into the low 20's in November. Millions of dollars lost in one night. I'm not packing even long sleeve shirts for a non fun trip home.

It never started since 2011. March is now 90's with no rain year after year.
