After a chilly couple of days temps really rebound this week
And looks to stay well above normal for at least through the end of the month and into the first few days of meteorological spring
Take it to the bank. Gonna be even more hot this year than last for many of the same places. The ramp up in speed on the heating just gets faster and faster. I keep under guessing the speed of heating world wide.
Same for Chicago. March was cooler. April was closer to normal and May 1969 was on the warmer side with 10 days at or above 80F and one +90F degree day. June was well below normal with the average high for the month being -4F below normal. until the last week in which there was a 5 day heatwave in the 90s. July had an average high that was about 1F below average while August was abiut +3F above normal
Going from memory and not looking things up, March was average. April and May were well above normal with the end of May having one 97° day (a record for May 29) and two days at 90° thereafter, for an "official" heat wave. June had a lot of 80's and one then-record-setting 96° on June 28 or 29. I have read that at the time of the Stonehenge riots it was 87° around 11 p.m. Despite one heat wave, July was well below normal, with a then-record rainfall for the month. August was slightly above normal, but with the famous Woodstock rains. There was a heat wave over Labor Day weekend, October and November were cold, as was January. December was only slightly below normal, with a historic snow/rainstorm starting Christmas night. By late January we were transitioning into Niña, with a big Easter Day snowstorm. Early May, featuring my Bar Mitzvah was toasty (82° on May 2, my Bar Mitzvah day) and 90°a week later, one of my childhood friend's Bar Mitzvah days.
This is going from memory so I could be very wrong.
Another nostalgia day today. Good-performance February 18 2023 last frosts for Dallas Love Field, Fort Worth Naval Air Station, Austin Downtown, Austin cold hole airport, New Braunfels Airport, and (extremely lucky) San Angelo Airport.
And, except for Downtown Austin which had a lucky 1C near miss this morning, it's possible for all of them to repeat it this year.
Winter looks to be over for the eastern two thirds. Can't rule out some cold and snow in March but come on it's a blow torch as far as the eye can see. The West on the other hand is going to continue to see colder conditions and mountain snow as far as the eye can see.

It's done but never got started anyways so how can it be done if it never started? Hope i don't get another March like last year with no rain at all or like in 2021.
