Since moving from Miami to the (lower) midwest, I have fallen victim to the winter blues.

Just a month ago...I was hospitalized for a persistant cough which lasted for over 3 weeks, and another week after meds.

Just this week, Im recouping from a fever so high that I felt my head was about to explode...105. Not to mention every muscle in my body is aching, felt like I been on the football field! Its rare that I'd end up this sick during warm tropical weather. This dry, frigid 30 degree weather is enough to kill!

I changed my mind...I can do without seasons. Give me 80s and 90s all year round and I'm good! I say, lets break old man winter's legs!

Are you sure it was related to the weather? This has been an exceptionally bad cold/flu season.

This is exactly what happens to me (not as extreme as you though) every year, I'm always sick when it gets cold. Our Indian Summer (which ended 2 days ago) was really good for me. This is the main reason why I want to move somewhere that has warm Winters. This will be my 18th Winter (17 years old) in The Mid-Atlantic and I'm still not adapted to this weather (which isn't bad compared to the Midwest & New England) so its time for me to go. I don't want to live like this anymore, its unhealthy. I almost never get sick in the Summer.

It got cold yesterday and I'm semi-sick right now.

I am now working with preschool kids in Florida. From having all these kids coughing and sneezing in my face, I am now getting sick. My throat hurts and I am sneezing and coughing. At last one of them is sick every week. Sooner or later, staff gets sick too.

Who says you DON'T get sick with warm weather? HA! Tell me another one.

Yes there is no direct association between viruses and cold weather. Some people's immunity might get poorer in the cold season though. In fact cold air is cleaner than warm air in terms of numbers of viruses or bacteria.

With all the flu going around and as serious as it has been, I'm sorry but it probably has nothing to do with the change in climate.

Your description is classic flu or upper respiratory issue, it can knock you on your butt and take weeks to leave or recover.

There have been many studies, relating to cool interior temps, whether cold can make you sick and basically germs makes you sick not the cold. And, come cooler temps we close buildings up, breathe the same air over and over, no wonder people are sick.

There is always a major increase in January in terms of sick people. Think about it, in Dec. lots of activities, school plays, church, in and out of stores, touching things that thousands of people touch and wella in January tons of people are sick! Gee, I wonder why that is????

I have a suspicion that there are certain viruses that our bodies recover from faster when it's warmer outside and/or inside. I went to Jamaica with a common cold and it seemed to "dry up" a lot quicker than I expected; within hours after arrival, even though our arrival was shortly before sunset.

That may be true but cold weather brings people indoors and that contributes to more sickness.
