I'll tell you- nadda. The illegals presented fake social security numbers so technically Pilgrims Pride got off, even though they (Pilgrim's Pride) didn't perform background checks *cough-cough* to verify them.

Another news article, showing more details, lists the number from WV arrested as about 100.

Recent, I guess, as in April, 2008.

You're right, though, Pilgrim's Pride apparently wasn't charged with anything.

"labor savings"? Yeah, right. The average illicit costs the American taxpayers
around $20,000 per year in social services and medical charges, as well as incarceration expenses. Few benefit from their low wages, and those that do so benefit at the expense of the rest of us. And, that doesn't count the job losses for Americans. Those 15.4 million "expensive" Americans who aren't working can be largely attributable to your illicit aliens, and their cheap, off the books or stolen identity, work. And, since you don't seem to be very concerned about your fellow countrymen, I'll remind you that it's a whole lot more expensive to support them with unemployment benefits (for which they aren't working) than it is to pay them a fair wage where they actually contribute to, rather than extort from, the tax base.

Yes- 6 months or so ago.

Of course they weren't charged with anything in this case. In fact, they took more heat from the media and fed inspectors when some idiot yahoos got caught kicking turkey's at the plant than they did by hiring folks of questionable credentials.

Fine and prosecute the company's and individuals that create the environment for this to occur and the problem will decrease.

Imagine if they used the same felony course as they do with illicit drug dealerss- forfeiture and seizure of personal assets. Imagine what would happen if you employ illegals, failing to get appropriate INS checks on everyone. If you stand to lose hard assets?

Problemo el solvedo!

Then you have figured it out...Wv is a tribe...a tribe in America.

You were not able to assimilate because of your prejudice and closed mindedness...perhaps, a 'better than you 'po folk attitude.

We have seen them here before...and we have said the same thing...

Wv is not for everyone...never has been.

It's tolerant of it's own kind...and they are honest, hard working, plain and neighborly....

Get that counseling I recomended in a previous post.

Having a degree and being in the Air Force doesn't mean jack $hit unless you have a plan for the future, perhaps you can return here and do something constructive later in your life when a higher level of maturity is reached.

good luck...

What's the link for that information?

So, how much do illegal immigrants cost federal, state and local governments in the U.S.? Estimates vary widely, and no consensus exists. The Urban Institute put the net national cost at $1.9 billion in 1992; a Rice University professor, whose work the Urban Institute criticized, said it was $19.3 billion in 1993. More recently, a 2007 report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office examined 29 reports on state and local costs published over 15 years in an attempt to answer this question. CBO concluded that most of the estimates determined that illegal immigrants impose a net cost to state and local governments but "that impact is most likely modest." CBO said "no agreement exists as to the size of, or even the best way of measuring, that cost on a national level."

Some West Virginians are tolerant, some aren't, some are religious, some aren't, some are friendly, some aren't, some are honest, some aren't, some are hard working, you get the idea. We aren't all exactly alike.

Disappointed to see you lumping the Commonwealth in with them. I think we're pretty tolerant to the East.

Default Tolerant? Tolerant of What?

Tolerant of those who would violate our sovereignty? Tolerant of those who ignore our laws and who jump the line in front of those who legimately apply for admittance? Tolerant of those who would illegally take jobs here needed by our own citizens? Tolerant of those who rip off social services here while contributing next to nothing? Tolerant of people who enter our stressed economy and send the proceeds of their illegal activity out of our country?
Yeah, that's tolerance okay. It's also stupidity.

Here's a study released by a non-profit organization:

WASHINGTON, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Simultaneous studies, released this week by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), document the true costs of illegal immigration in Maryland and demonstrate strong voter objections to the burdens placed on them by illegal immigration. The price tag associated with providing education, health care and incarceration of criminal illegal aliens is at least $1.3 billion a year, finds The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Marylanders. The impact is clearly recognized by Maryland voters. A new Pulse Opinion Research poll of 1,000 likely voters across the state found that, by a large margin, Marylanders believe that illegal immigration is harming their state.

The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Marylanders found that taxpayers spend:

◦$ 1.1 billion a year to educate illegal immigrant children and the U.S. born children of illegal immigrants.
◦$ 167 million a year on unreimbursed health care for illegal aliens.
◦$ 29 million a year to incarcerate criminal illegal aliens.
◦The total represents an annual cost to each of Maryland’s native-born headed households of $ 625.

The cost study is based on an estimate that the illegal alien population in Maryland is now 250,000 persons. The illegal alien population of Maryland has grown exponentially during this decade, nearly quadrupling since 2000.

In a separate report, English Learners and Immigration: A Case Study in Prince George’s County, Maryland, FAIR examines the impact of mass immigration in local schools in Prince George’s County. Because of large-scale legal and illegal immigration, the county has seen its non-English proficient student population grow from 7,064 in 2004 to 13,825 today. Programs to teach immigrant students English cost the county more than $66 million a year.

The Pulse Opinion Research poll found that:

◦73% of Maryland voters say illegal immigration has a negative impact on the state. Only 20% believe it has a positive impact on Maryland.
◦77% of Maryland voters believe illegal aliens have a negative impact on the state budget, versus only 15% who believe their impact is positive.
◦65% of Maryland voters believe that illegal immigration harms the state’s schools. Only 18% believe illegal immigration has had a beneficial effect on education.
◦55% believe illegal immigration should be reduced through better enforcement of immigration laws. Only 36% of Maryland voters favor amnesty or legalization for current illegal aliens.

“Voters in Maryland, like voters everywhere, want their elected officials in Washington and Annapolis to protect their interests, their jobs, and their tax dollars from the impact of mass illegal immigration,” said Dan Stein, President of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). “The failure of government at all levels to institute and enforce sensible immigration policies is costing Marylanders jobs, billions in tax dollars, and their children the opportunity to get the quality education they need and deserve. At a time when state lawmakers are slashing budgets, spending on illegal immigrants in Maryland continues to rise over the strong objection of voters.”

The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Marylanders, English Learners and Immigration: A Case Study in Prince George’s County, Maryland and a summary of the Pulse Opinion Research results are available at The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR):.

And, Maryland is but one of the many states adversely affected by this illegal activity. The evidence that we need to take charge of our borders is overwhelming, and mouting every day.

As my husband likes to say "all it takes for evil to prosper is for good people to do nothing! We can't sit by and watch the wrongs being done, they will just continue.
We all plan to move to wv soon so I have been reading the blogs today and find all this very interesting. I live in Ca and I'm from Maryland but have been away most of my adult life. We find it hard to even get a job unless your bilingual here. My soon to be daughter-in-law is a being turned down for jobs in her field which is medical billing. No public interaction really necessary. Fight the good fight, lol we don't want them to follow us out there.

You guys will certainly qualify...California is another country in the Wv hiring book...

Southern style drawl below the Weston/Buckhannon line of demarcation.

When you move here, please get involved in our government...PTA, City Councils, County Commissions, ect...

...As Californians, you have lived through the worst of what political idiots can do to ruin a state..

Your experience in preventing those things from happening here would be very beneficial to us.
