UPDATE:

Last night, I made a big batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies with some luxe Ghirardelli chips.

This afternoon, I went to the house of one of the rescuers to deliver them. He was home, but I couldn't knock on the door because he has a gate on the front porch, and it's not the sort you can easily unlatch. So, I left the container and a thank you note on top of the gate.

Hope he finds them before the forest critters do!

Just got back from Murphy, NC and had a nice experience, too. We were pulling a trailer and noticed smoke coming from one of the tires. Pulled off of the road and immediately 2 guys came over and helped us figure out what was going on. Within a few minutes we were back on the road and looking forward even more to our move to Murphy. Everyone we have met has been so kind and helpful. Never too busy to help out. We are very thankful.

I've gotta say, hearing a guy deadpan a phrase like "we've blown out a flip flop" is one thing I just love about living here. People here have great senses of humor, for the most part. Living out here in Barnardsville is giving me a different perspective too. Yes, it is within close driving distance of Asheville, but you come live here and then tell me it's ANYTHING at all like that town. You wouldn't be able to. I just love it out here. I still haven't posted a pic of my view I don't think, I need to do that.

About this "view" thing ... a couple of years ago, a lady posted to one of our local message boards looking for a scenic place for her daughter's wedding. She was thinking about a waterfall location.

I remember thinking at the time, "there's no place here that isn't scenic".
