It appears to be a flip. It looks nice on the inside, but it's hard to tell whether the improvements were done properly. Plus it's a lot of money for a house with no view, in my opinion.
First one seems overpriced for the square footage (again, my opinion), especially if you want to do some updates. I also personally would not want to be on the very edge, hanging over, like that house is. I've seen enough mudslides and been through some smaller earthquakes that I wouldn't want a house like that.
Second one is cute, but steep price for the square footage. Has some quirky, charming parts to it, but will also need updating. No view, but that might not be important to you. Until you've had it, you don't know what you are missing.
Now one of the Black Mountain homes I posted earlier is showing a closed sale price of $410,000 on redfin. Just a little under asking price which was $420,000. https://www.redfin.com/NC/Black-Moun...home/111182962

I do think houses up there are coming down in price. I don't know how long it will take, but I hope it's in the next year or so. But not until after my dad's house sells. LOL. We plan to buy or build once we get my dad's estate settled, we aren't sure if we'll stay in our old neighborhood or head up to the Boone area, which is where I originally wanted to be (or Brevard, but I like Boone better).
But no garage. That's something I've read here in the forum and noticed myself when looking at WNC real estate, you'll find a really appealing home and get taken in by the setting and the architectural style but just as you start to get excited you realize oh, no garage or covered parking. And I'm sure the cost to build a detached garage is astronomical.

But when I see mention of short term rental in the property details it's kind of a turn off.
The first house is in a very good location. In all of our house hunting here, we never encountered one without a garage or carport. The vast majority had garages.

I've seen some, but I always use a garage as one of my filters. I honestly can't imagine living in the mountains without having an attached garage. At least not at the higher elevations.

We noticed a LOT of houses with no garages. Newer subdivisions will usually have a garage. Inner Ashevlle area homes rarely seem to have a garage.
