Both. I think businesses need to understand the benefits of providing an environment that will help their employee's productivity. At the same time, employees also need to understand that there are certain restrictions that may need to be put in place based on the industry/job type.

I also don't buy that the "younger" generation are lazy etc. It just an evolution of the work place. And personally, I think "work hours" are becoming irrelevant (though certain industries/jobs will always have "work hours") - especially in the professional environment. You can show up everyday, are never late, and "work" your full 8 hours.... but none of that has said anything about what you actually did.

I personally believe that Boomers are feeling threatened because Gen Y/Millennials are becoming more ubiquitous in the workplace and the culture is quickly changing. Gen Yers are taking real positions in corporate America and moving up from the young intern/office gopher. While Gen Xers are taking Senior positions and knocking on Boomers doors.
