Did you tell them about this at your interview? Usually if you tell them upfront it’s not as big of a deal as telling them afterwards. At any rate, the only thing you can do now is either threaten to quit which could backfire or call in sick everyday and try to get a quack doctor to go along.

I wish I had never said anything. I think calling in sick would be obvious.

Sorry you're having to deal with this. I hope it all works out.
Then you might as well quit. Do you think they are so dumb they can't put two and two together and won't fire her?

I just can’t believe how inflexible they’re being. It’s nearly 3 months in advance

I agree with you. That is absolutely ridiculous. What industry are you in?

Property management. I’m an administrative assistant.

It sounds as if the new manger is not that impressed with your job performance. Looking for another job is a good idea, & as far as going to the wedding, that would depend on how much I needed that paycheck.

I have only been there 1 week. She hasn’t been around to even train me yet. I have just been doing training modules on the computer the last week.

So I don’t think that’s it

Depending on your office makeup, maybe not that ridiculous. Might there be someone else with more seniority taking that time off? I worked for a company that had a policy of no more than 1 person off at a time. This might be the case. You might want to ask around, and see if someone might "trade" time with you.

I've had a wide variety of positions -- some management, some not -- and I think what they are doing to you stinks. If I were you I would start looking for another job, but continue working until I found one -- and if I did not find another one before the wedding, I would give one week's notice before the wedding, saying that was the reason, and if they were still inflexible, I would just not return to the job when you return from the wedding.

Of course, if you really NEED the money and cannot afford to go without a job for even a month and jobs are hard to come by with your skills and experience and in your area, that would be different.
