That Florida is the U.S. State closest to Africa (nope, it's Maine)
That Sahara is the biggest desert (Antarctic and Arctic desserts are much bigger)
That Mont Blank is highest mountain in Europe (it's Elbrus)

Were they Spanish speaking? Casablanca translates to "white house".

To expand on that; California is mostly desert. Wrong! About 25% of California is desert. 40% is forest. The rest is grassland.

Australia is all desert. Many people in the US think this and are surprised to find out that it has rain forest and snow capped mountains.

The Pacific Northwest is damp rain forest. Only near the coast is this true. Eastern parts of Washington and Oregon are desert or semi desert.

Siberia is always cold. Like the interior of any continent, Siberia can get quite hot in summer.

  • That Finland is a Scandinavian country. Scandinavia is Denmark, Sweden and Norway. That is it.
  • Short distances in Europe: That might be true for central Europe. A road trip by car from Oslo to Tromsø takes over 22 hours (non-stop).
  • That Dubai is a country

It never/barely rains in Ethiopia- there are on average 53 rainy days in July and August out of the 62 days in the capital city.

This happened just last week

Why not Iceland (and Faroe Islands)? They're geographically not in Scandinavia, but culturally definitely is. Denmark isn't in Scandinavian peninsula, either.
