Zealand contains New Zealand, New Caledonia and some islands of Australia.

Do you guys think it will be universally accepted that there are 8 continents in the world?

Both of these terms describe a region. Not a continent.

Continents are just arbitrarily, there isn't really a physical definition that is universally accepted.

I don't know why Zealandia has been in the news recently but it's pretty old news to me.

Outside of these forums, it is usually understood that a continent is a large land-mass, not a group of scattered archipelagos.

Well we were limited to at most 7 continents
No body will consider, for example, the Middle East or Central America a continent.

Maybe it is an incontinent, which is why it is floating in all that water.

Define large. Do large land masses connected by an isthmus count as seperate or the same continent? Why are Europe and Asia considered distinct continents?

I'm not going to sit here and give you elementary lessons on words that you as a grown person should know. If you don't know what's meant by that then you obviously don't know what a continent is to attempt to tell anyone else.
