If the US is a terrible country, why don't Americans dismantle it?

OTOH, maybe Americans believe in fixing what's broken, rather than throwing it away? There must be enough of value there, that's worth saving?

Dismantling it wouldn't solve anything, anyway. It would only exacerbate the problems.

Americans are easily distracted by shiny things. We can't focus on fixing problems while being distracted -- the attention span is too short. It is not a terrible country, just some terrible people in charge.
