Well, if you watch Oprah, you will see that the most used words are:

Powerful
and
Amazing

Every guest talks about what an amazing and powerful experience they had in such and such a place.

One day while listening to a story from Lisa Ling I had to turn it off. I thought, "if she says powerful or amazing one more time I will scream!" she isn't the only one though.

I can't think of people more immature and unprofessional than those who say "Like" one hundred times a day. I see it at all levels from students to people higher up on the corporate ladder.

I believe if children are taught to speak well and write well begining at an early age, they will continue to do so as an adult despite fad words like 'vetted' and TV anchors who do not know how to pronounce tour, sure and tore.

OMG, vetted is ridiculous. I haven't read any of the previous posts but, if 'went missing' hasn't been mentioned, it should have been. UGH!

The English language is one language, but it differs in each country.

There are words that we use here, that aren't even used in UK. And its not just in the US. Canadian English is different from ours, Ugandan English differs from Nigerian English. Caribbean English is vastly different from Australian English, etc;

Even here in the USA.
Southern English is different from Northern English and so on. New England English differs from Midwest English. Especially with the accents.
But of course it differs to a lesser extent.

Do you know how many countries there are out there, that speak English ?? You cant expect people to speak it EXACTLY the same. (Pronunciation, grammar, terms, etc

Plus immigration has lots of influence.

This is a USA Forum you know and the words brought up here are abused equally through out the 50 states, high or low left or right USA
