My vote is for the word "very". This word is very annoying when overused, which is most of the time. Add a few exclamation points to the sentence and I'm now extremely annoyed!

"This is the penultimate experience!" Sooo, it's the second to last experience? Hm.

According to someone at work, it was recently the "winter salsa" over here. I couldn't see that he had any spicy tomato concoction, must've been dreaming.

Who said that adding exclamation points to your sentences is like laughing at your own jokes?

"Special". Used to describe people who can't even put food in their own mouth.

I've found I use exclamation points way more when texting than when writing. It's like I'm trying to make my text phrases very important. exciting, relevant,. . . .don't know but it is annoying ME that I'M doing this.

I believe you are.

It can be seen all over the internet. People misusing the word "fail".

I'm even hearing it in speech now. "That was so fail!"

You know what, I now understand what you are talking about. My husband sits over in his recliner giggling to himself about some of those sites. Occasionally he tries to share them with me. Random pictures with things like "parent fail" written on them... I guess the reference to the thread is what through me off.
