"Awesome." I cringe when I hear it. As if there aren't hundreds of words to describe something that is wonderful.

I work in the Real Estate biz and whenever I see a listing that says: Awesome View, I know it's like a 20 something has the listing, like you know.

The word "Revisit". I didn't "visit" the idea in the first place, why would I want to "revisit" it?

There was one supervisor at my old job who used the word in every other sentence. Drove me crazy in meetings!

Another one is "at the end of the day". People who use that term tend to use it 100 times instead of just once when they speak.

And what's with people saying "I could care less", which means you could care less than you already do. It is supposed to be "I couldn't care less" which means that you could not care any less than you do now.

Another one is people who say "acrosst" instead of "across". I really want to know who was first one to add the "t"?

OH I am sooo with you on this oneIt seems as though every other sentance today has the F word in it and one cannot watch TV without encountering the word. Way back when I was young if that word was used that was a sure fire way to get your mouth washed out with soap. My question is why is it used so frequently what is the point? One can get their point across without using that nasty word or any other nasty words for that matter.

About 100 years ago, in the 1960's, Steve Allen was the host of the Tonight Show and then went into syndication. He did a lot of great stuff. I can't find it on line but he had this thing called the National Jerk Test.

I only remember two questions from it:

If you say sherbeRt, instead of sherbet, you're a jerk.

And if you say I could care less, instead of I couldn't care less, you're a jerk.

AND THAT WAS OVER 40 YEARS AGO!!!

I just sent an email to a couple of radio sports guys that come from a print background that say, I could care less.

Irregardless, I hope alot of people will learn to speak well English.

I know someone that says "nerve-wrecking" instead of "nerve racking".
It bothers me.
