I have a coworker with a PhD who says, "h/she felt badly" instead of "felt bad."

I have a coworker who says "Eyetalian". I always cringe a little, since there are also many Eyetalians in the office.

I'll start.

I despise the word "chuckle". There's nothing wrong with the word, technically. I see it in almost every book I read. And yet, it makes me want to grind my teeth.

Now fess up. What word do you hate.
Yeshuh. I have a little brother who used to use it a lot and I just wanted to punch his lights out. Yes it makes me want to grind my teeth. There is no such word. The word that makes my mind wander into all sorts of historical areas is Necromancy.

Imagine if an Eyetalian got married, moved to Dubai, and started a family. Would his children be Eyetalian Ay-rabs?

Probably to my coworker, they would! And she is an educated woman--an engineer overseeing a substantial project in New York City, where a lot of Eyetalians work in the construction industry!
