This conversation reminds me of one of my favorites. Several times I have heard the expression, "In the rear" as in, "My bank account is in the rear" or "I have to pay the cable bill because it is in the rear."

Not me. In fact, I usually skip searching for the apostrophe on the keyboard, (which is way out in Terra Incognita, somewhere beyond the essential and indispensable semicolon) and dont mind skipping apostrophes, since I wouldn;t wouldn[t want to mistype it, so I deal with Apostrophe Nazis.
I doubt if I have used a semicolon yet this year, and probably never used one last year, but there it is, with equal prominence to the letter A on my keyboard.
