You're not suggesting we all go there and do that, are you?

Here's another 'what word did they want?' question.
Referring to people on welfare...
" Now you have another family on the lamb. "

"on the dole" perhaps? Unless they were running away, then they'd be "on the lam".

Hmmm...Perhaps that family is from a Greek or Middle Eastern neighborhood, and is just taking advantage of low prices on something other than beef or chicken.

Actually, like Sayulita, I think that the person who posted that gem was probably trying to say, "on the dole", even though, to that person, those words might translate to something regarding pineapple...

Not sure how lamb can be translated into dole. People on welfare or in some other poverty situation sometimes have to move in the middle of the night. On the lam.

Recently a woman told me of the many years of her childhood she never knew where she would wake up after going to bed in one place. She eventually learned to keep a bag packed. Most of us can't comprehend such a life.

old_cold, can you direct us to the origin of this phrase that we might see the context? I couldn't find it here on CD.

Funneral?
Is that a funeral that is conducted at an amusement park, in order to provide as much fun as possible for those in attendance?

It's called the dumbing down of America. Many people like myself never learned to formally type well and just miss things. Geniuses can be bad spellers and have rough grammar, it's very common. There is nobody to blame but Parents.

There is no one to blame but family for any level of stupid a kid attains. Very few will have the passion to learn on their own that come from uneducated homes. See the movie Homeless to Harvard as a great example of a kid that overcame the odds, however, her addict father had a masters degree and was extremely bright, so it's environment plus genetics as well as economic and social issues.

Another issue is that so many college students cheat to graduate, a study estimates 80%. If you're in the other 20% , you've got a real problem having to compete with corruption at that level. It sours you to life. I'm very bitter I didn't attain even a fraction of my 10% brain usage so a bunch of mediocre cheats can run the world. The flame of hope for a better world just flickers out.
