Since joeribs2 and us have done a thread stating interest in moving to Cheyenne, and not all replies were favorable for either of us, then who would be a good fit to move to/live in Cheyenne? We both have our own reasons for thinking about moving there, but it seems like Cheyenne isn't as favorable to move to as other places in Wyoming. Why is that? Future population increase?

I do know that there are places in Wyoming that to some, are much more favorable to move to than either Cheyenne or Casper. IOW, certain cities, big and small, in America, no matter which state it is, are better "fits" for some, while not for others.

Actually, I could ask the same question about Wyoming, in general. Who would make a good fit for moving/living in Wyoming?

People who think for themselves, people who wish to have minimal interference in their lives. These are be same people who voted for President Reagan because they saw big government as the biggest problem. These are the same people who judge the law and form their own opinions.

People don't move to Wyoming for entertainment or fine dining or weather. They move here for freedom. If they moved here for any other reason they won't stay long.

Well, ok, but..........

First, I really have no idea what you mean by "minimal interference in their lives"? Also, don't know what you mean by "these are the same people who judge the law and form their own opinions"?

Rodeo is a big thing in Wyoming and it is definitely entertainment. And, not just for tourists, but for locals as well.

I do understand about "move here for freedom", I think. There is plenty of open-space/land, if that is what you are talking about.

Actually, I just read an article, from this year (2022) about Wyoming. It stated that "if a person likes rodeo and western stuff, Wyoming is for you."

Anyway, hope there are other replies to come.

Alot of people move here because they find jobs here, or to retire.

Well, if we end up moving to Wyoming, be that be Cheyenne or somewhere else in Wyoming, it won't be for a job. We will both be retired. Then again, just what do those retirees, of which I'd assume are mostly seniors, do there?

So, what I'm thinking now is, anyone that moves to Cheyenne, or Wyoming period, has to be a certain way?

I'm assuming that Wyoming isn't, necessarily, the same way it was years ago? Or, is it?

It appears that only two cities (major cities) in Wyoming, Casper and Cheyenne, are growing like weeds?

Good grief.

Yes. The Wyoming Department of Interstate Immigration will refuse entry if you’re not a certain way.

In my experience Wyoming isn't welcoming to outsiders in general. I lived there eight years and I made friends with exactly one person born and raised there. Otherwise all of us transplants stuck together. Mind you I moved there from Montana and no, I didn't try to change anything, I never talked politics, I was friendly to people, I never talked about "how we did things back home" and I'm into outdoor activities. When trying to get a job in Cheyenne I was asked three times before the interview started if I was from there. My experience, I'm sure this will be offensive to some people.
