Update on this issue.

The electricians who wired my home showed me that the wired were twisted together and soldered. Then wrapped with electrical tape. The photo I showed above just did not get soldered.

I did not think this was allowed by present NEC code. The solder can get hot with current running through it and come apart. According to the electricians dozens or hundreds of homes are wired this way in York County.

Can someone tell me if indeed this is allowed by code. Possibly I may purchase an NEC book. If this is allowed by code there is no issue at my home or others. If not there is a problem.

Call a home inspector and ask them this question. If it is not allowed, sounds like a basis for civil action against the builder.
