Description: This Portland steak house has been serving steaks, chops, and lobster in the Old Port for more than 30 years. Regulars come here especially for the prime rib, as well as the onion soup and rack of lamb. Established in 1972, Old Port Tavern also includes the Mariner’s Church Banquet Center, where events from cocktail parties to wedding receptions can be scheduled, and a billiards hall. Description: Sapporo is one of the oldest Japanese/sushi restaurants in Portland and is quite good. Named after the Japanese city famed for its seafood, Sapporo sits on the waterfront and is a longtime favorite of sushi lovers in Portland. The menu offers Nigiri sushi—a slice of fish on top of a bed of rice—as well as seafood and vegetable rolls. Combination dinners come with miso soup and 12 to 20 pieces of sushi. For customers who just can’t do raw fish, lots of teriyaki, tempura, and noodle dishes are available. Sapporo is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday from 5 to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.
