Description: With seven campuses spread all over Omaha, Metropolitan Community College has a strong presence in the city. Its two-year programs offer degrees and certificates in more than 100 areas, including business, computers, culinary arts and management, horticulture, industrial technologies, and nursing and health.Its culinary arts program is one of its fastest growing and most popular and has its own state-of-the-art building in North Omaha. The program offers a popular restaurant that operates during the school year where students produce gourmet cuisine for a fraction of most of Omaha’s other fine dining experiences.Metro is supported with taxpayer money from Douglas county and a number of other surrounding counties; it began in 1974 when the Nebraska State Legislature consolidated a number of smaller community colleges.
