Description: Located just a short jaunt outside of Lincoln, the Prairie Creek Inn is owned by two lifelong Nebraskans, Bruce and Maureen Stahr. The couple moved the Bruce W. Leavitt home from the outskirts of Lincoln to Walton on a two-day, 11-mile jaunt that transported the 406,000 pound home to its current location. The 1911 home had been seriously vandalized before the move, and the Stahrs spent four years renovating the house and restoring period woodwork, marble, oak, and walnut. They refinished original floors, expanded the front porch, and added an elevator and a full basement. Today, the B&B has completely renovated guest rooms and also gives guests access to a 12-acre stocked fishing lake, three miles of hiking trails, and a full 75 acres of peaceful farmland. Two other buildings on-site are currently under renovation and eventually guests will be able to stay in a cottage house and a lakeside cabin.
