Description: A French bistro transplanted into the heart of Dundee, Dario’s Brasserie is a warm, welcoming restaurant that’s popular with the neighborhood locals and the rest of the city, too. Owner Dario Schicke moved to Omaha from Sarajevo via New York City and opened the restaurant in 2006. The restaurant serves delicious, simple food—think homemade soups, quiche, crepes—and has an extensive, excellent selection of fine Belgian beers. Lighting is warm inside Dario’s, and simple wood tables with mismatched vintage chairs sit next to a long red booth. The restaurant serves brunch, lunch, and dinner and the menu changes seasonally. The connecting thread through all the menus is simple, hearty French food. Crepes filled with fruit and cheese, both sweet and savory, are a can’t-miss item. The Belgium Pommes Frites are a delicious appetizer served in a cone with ketchup and horseradish. Order them even if you think you don’t want any. The 36 Hour Sous Vide Boneless Beef Short Ribs are served alone at dinner time and as a sandwich at lunch. A satisfying cheese plate is big enough to eat as a meal, and is especially good when enjoyed with a glass of wine or a beer.
