Description: Sakura Bana is the Old Market’s original sushi bar. It’s been there for years and serves reasonably priced, tasty, authentic sushi, sashimi, and bento boxes. Its prices are really what diners like about Sakura Bana; most Omaha sushi restaurants are fancier than Sakura, with themed drinks and rolls and fancier interiors. Sakura takes somewhat of a bare bones approach, with an open sushi bar, simple tables and chairs, and efficient service. Sakura has followed suit of many Omaha restaurants with a special menu and happy hour: Mon through Fri between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m., a selection of sushi and rolls on the “Dream Menu” are $2.99 each. The special runs on Sat and Sun from 5 to 7 p.m. The Dream Menu includes a number of signature house rolls made with singular ingredients: The caterpillar roll has shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, cream cheese, and eel sauce.
