The grocery permit for Ben's liquor includes a wine tasting room. Wine tastings are conducted on a regular basis in the wine tasting room. Health inspectors observed crackers; olive oil; vinegar and sliced bread stored in wine tasting room. Cooking equipment such as electic skillet; crock pot and condiments such as ketchup; mustard; hot sauce and serving utensils and plastic cutlery observed stored on shelves of wine tasting room. Please remove these items from the premise or obtain a permit to operate a bar or snackbar permit. A temporary food permit must be obtained prior to any wine tasting event that is offered to the public.This facility does not have a permit to serve open food. Please remove equipment that is not used in the operations of grocery store. The grocery store permit does not permit wine and food tasting on a regular basis. A temporary health permit can be obtained prior to these events with the health authority.

Discussed with general manager Mr. Don Grohs types of food that may be served in wine tasting room. Grocery permit has a exemption for food service certification requirements. The wine tasting room may serve only pre-packaged non-potentially hazardous foods such as crackers and pour wine.If facility wishes to serve other types of food; please contact health authority for approval.- Temporary food events permits will be acquired prior to any fundraiser event that involves food.- The wine tasing room will be inspected annually under the grocery store permit. All barware and any foodservice equipment must be properly washed; rinsed and sanitized in the 3-compartment sink. Proper handwashing shall be conducted prior to handling any food. Please review good handwashing procedures with any staff who will be operating in wine tasting room.- A separate and stand alone handsink will not be required to be installed. All 3 basins of 3 compartment sink must be properly washed and sanitized prior to any warewashing of equipment.

Grocery store does conduct wine sampling in glassware. A separate area for wine tasting has a 3 compartment sink but no separate handsink. A temporary food permit is being pulled prior to any fundraiser event that will be serving food at grocery store. No perishable foods are served only crackers. Crackers are bulk and not individually prepackaged. A Certifed Food Protection Manager is not required. Grocery store does not want to have a snackbar permit. A hand sink may still be required for handwashing. Health inspector will have a supervisor call general manager back if any construction requirments need to be met for wine operations.

Cease and desist preparing; cutting of food for wine pairings until a separate permit to operate a snackbar is obtained by the Washoe County Health District. A hand sink must be installed in wine tasting room prior to permit approval of the snackbar permit. All cold holding units checked OK and within regulations for the grocery store.No chemicals stored next to food.
