This is a relocation forum, and it's natural that folks interested in living in or even visiting the north would be curious to hear about the cold and how we deal with it. That, and if we're all really honest, it's pretty much just chest beating, "look how tough we are, this place is absurd and we LIKE it."

Well, there have been a couple threads here lately that have managed to degenerate into fighting about the weather!

OMG! How do you people deal with those kinds of temperatures? Here in Salt Lake City, when it gets into the 40s, I'm downright uncomfortable, and when it gets into the 20s, I think I'm going to die.

Dress warm. Yes its cold but it could be worse. It could be 120 out. You can always put more clothing on but can only take so much off!

Especially after putting on your Fairbanks 40 to help keep warm in the winter.

Dang! And I was cussing because it got down into the teens above zero here last night. I kind of wish we would get some snow in Minnesota though, we have not seen so much as a flurry yet (or rain in about three months for that matter).

OMG.. yes Blue... there's a nude beach on my canoe route on the Wisconsin River... very peaceful and quiet actually. You try not to distrub them because the river is narrow at that portion...

I would rather have the cold myself. I love to layer
