Now I could be a smart *** but I won't. I use them to observe the night sky. And for astrophotography.
I have 3 solar filters that let me see the sun. I am looking into getting a solar telescope to do solar photagraphy and viewing. As up there my night time viewing will be very limited.

Here is a site for the sun. You can see real time pics of it.

at the SOHO site you can watch comets going by the sun also.
