My first reaction is that this is a very large home. Bigger than most families would need. If you need a big house, that is one thing, but if you don't, you should pare it down quite a bit.

When I was a young man, I thought the bigger the house the better, even if you don't need it for a big family. Now that I am a bit older I would have a house about a third the size of yours. It seems the more room you have, the more junk you acquire to fill it.

I don’t mind the front if the house. But its really big. And you need all of that garage space?

Roofline is complex and might be hard to make water tight.

I do like the mix of materials.

But, wow, it is big.

Garage so far from front door: Genuine question: I'm not sure why that's a problem?

It's not a problem unless that is your only hard surface access to the street in front. If you think you are going to be taking 500 extra steps to get your mail or visit your neighbor, then you are just straight up wrong. You are going to be taking the shortest most natural path.

Some of us do. The house I'm designing has 6-8 garage spaces. And every one I look at MUST have at least a 3 car garage and maybe room for more, like this one. I can fill it up with project cars and the like. I only have a 2 car garage right now and there's still 3 cars sitting outside.

If you want to have a lot of garage spaces then you will do a lot better to just put up a pole barn behind the house. Very few people are going to want to pay for 6 garage spaces.

Gotta have room for that, too. And I'd rather integrate it into the style of the house rather than just have a big ol' barn out back. As a hobbyist, I'd rather have this...

I'm a function before form person so the first thing I look for is the floor layout. A good layout should have a story to tell. Each area or part of the house should has a purpose that complements the surrounding areas.

Waiting for the floor plan too. If one has been developed.
